10.23.26 Hire Kelsey Shepherd Maine Redevelopment PR
October 23, 2026 | Augusta, Maine — The Maine Redevelopment Land Bank Authority (Maine Redevelopment) is pleased to announce that Kelsey Shepherd has joined the organization as Program Coordinator, bringing a strong background in land conservation, geographic information systems (GIS), environmental research, and project management.
In her new role, Shepherd will support Maine Redevelopment’s programs and projects, helping communities address challenging properties and advance opportunities for revitalization and reuse.
Before joining Maine Redevelopment, Shepherd worked in land conservation in Maine, collaborating with communities and landowners across the state. Her work included using GIS and spatial analysis to inform land protection, planning, and conservation efforts.
Originally from central Iowa, Shepherd holds a Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology from Iowa State University. During her graduate studies, she led a multi-year research project assessing wild bumble bee populations across Iowa’s conserved, private, and public lands. The project involved close collaboration with landowners, community members, and local partners.
“Kelsey’s experience brings a valuable combination of technical expertise, environmental knowledge, and community engagement to our team,” said Scott LaFlamme, Executive Director of Maine Redevelopment. “Her ability to connect data, people, and place will strengthen our work with communities across Maine.”
Shepherd is passionate about work that connects people, place, and the environment. Her background in collaborative research, conservation planning, and project coordination aligns with Maine Redevelopment’s mission to help communities unlock the potential of struggling properties.
“I’m thrilled to work alongside Maine Redevelopment’s dedicated staff, board, and partners as we explore new possibilities for challenging properties. Many of these places have rich histories and hold deep meaning for the people and communities connected to them. I’m excited to play a role in shaping what comes next for these important places,” said Kelsey Shepherd.
About the Maine Redevelopment Land Bank: Maine Redevelopment was established by statute by the State of Maine as a quasi-governmental organization to partner with communities in addressing vacant, abandoned, and complex properties that are often beyond local capacity to resolve. Our mission is to partner with communities to revitalize properties and reimagine their potential for Maine’s future. Through its four core program areas, Municipal Technical Assistance, Brownfields Redevelopment, Land Banking, and Special Projects, the organization delivers the tools, partnerships, and expertise needed to move challenging properties toward productive reuse. This work helps strengthen local economies, restore property value, and support more vibrant and resilient communities across Maine. www.maineredevelopment.org
