Notice of Application and Public Meeting for US EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant

The Maine Redevelopment Land Bank Authority (MRLBA) is applying to the United States
Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) Brownfields Program for a Cleanup Grant to fund
proposed remediation activities to abate hazardous materials and remediate impacted soils
associated with the Hartland Tannery Site located at 30 Main Street, 9 Main Street, and 18
Canaan Road, in Hartland Maine. The MRLBA will submit this grant application to the US EPA
on January 27, 2026.

A draft Preliminary Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) has also been drafted
for this project. Draft copies of the Preliminary ABCA are available for review by the public at
the Hartland Town Hall Building, 21 Elm Street, Hartland, Maine during normal business hours
(Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm) or may be requested from Maine Redevelopment
at info@maineredevelopment.org

Persons wishing to comment on this grant proposal and/or the Preliminary ABCA may do so at
any time prior to Tuesday January 20, 2026 through one or more of the following methods: 1)
via mail to Chris Littlefield, Town of Hartland Manager, 21 Elm Street, Hartland, ME 04943; 2)
via email to info@maineredevelopment.org f and/or 3) in person at a public meeting, to start at
5:30pm and end at 6:30pm on Tuesday January 20, 2026 at the Irving Tanning Community
Center, 62 Elm Street, Hartland, ME and virtually via zoom, to attend virtually please email
info@maineredevelopment.org for the meeting link. Any comments received and responses to
those comments will be included in Maine Redevelopment’s Cleanup Grant application that will
be submitted to EPA.
