FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Maine Redevelopment Names Scott LaFlamme as New Executive Director

Augusta, Maine — The Maine Redevelopment Land Bank Authority (“Maine Redevelopment”) announced today the hiring of Scott LaFlamme as its next Executive Director, following a statewide search conducted by the organization’s Board of Commissioners.

LaFlamme brings more than two decades of experience in municipal leadership, redevelopment, infrastructure planning, and community and economic development across Maine. He will officially assume the role later this spring as Maine Redevelopment continues expanding its statewide work supporting communities with complex redevelopment challenges.

“Scott brings an exceptional combination of leadership experience, redevelopment knowledge, and deep municipal relationships across Maine,” said John Egan, Chair of the Maine Redevelopment Board of Commissioners. “As Maine Redevelopment enters its next phase of growth and implementation, we were looking for a leader who understands both the complexity of these projects and the importance of collaboration with communities and partners statewide. Scott is an outstanding fit for this organization and its mission.”

“I’m honored to join Maine Redevelopment at such an exciting and important time,” said LaFlamme. “This organization is uniquely positioned to help communities tackle some of the most challenging and transformational redevelopment opportunities in Maine. I look forward to working alongside the Board, staff, municipalities, and partners across the state to help communities unlock the potential of properties that have long stood in the way of growth and revitalization.”

Prior to joining Maine Redevelopment, LaFlamme served in several senior municipal leadership and community development roles throughout Maine, helping guide communities through redevelopment initiatives, strategic planning efforts, infrastructure projects, and long-term economic development efforts. He has extensive experience working collaboratively with local governments, nonprofits, businesses, state agencies, and community stakeholders to advance complex public projects.

LaFlamme holds a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Public Management from the University of Maine, graduating summa cum laude.

“Over the past year, Maine Redevelopment has built a strong operational and strategic foundation,” said Jennifer Litteral, Deputy Director of Maine Redevelopment. “Scott’s leadership experience and collaborative approach will help continue that momentum as we expand our work supporting communities across Maine. We are excited to welcome him to the team.”

Since launching operations in 2024, Maine Redevelopment has created programs focused on municipal technical assistance, brownfields redevelopment, land banking, and strategic redevelopment initiatives. The organization recently acquired its first property, the former Hartland Tannery, and continues to build a statewide pipeline of redevelopment projects and partnerships.

About the Maine Redevelopment Land Bank Authority

Maine Redevelopment was established by statute by the State of Maine as a quasi-governmental organization to partner with communities in addressing vacant, abandoned, and complex properties that are often beyond local capacity to resolve. Our mission is to partner with communities to revitalize properties and reimagine their potential for Maine’s future. Through its four core program areas, Municipal Technical Assistance, Brownfields Redevelopment, Land Banking, and Special Projects, the organization delivers the tools, partnerships, and expertise needed to move challenging properties toward productive reuse. This work helps strengthen local economies, restore property value, and support more vibrant and resilient communities across Maine.
